There are various roles you can be involved in that do not require you to go in the field—though you are more than welcome to be both a searcher and involved in a supporting role. If you are interested in getting involved in any of the supporting roles, please contact us.

Each June, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), YKSAR elects a Board of Directors for the next year. Below is a summary of the roles and responsibilities.

  • The Board provides governance, strategic direction, and financial oversight to ensure the organization fulfills its mission effectively.
  • Each position is subject to election at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Board Members serve for a term of one year.
  • Board Members may serve for multiple terms.
  • Board Members often serve in other capacities in the organization (e.g., Board Member and Search Manager), but this is not required.
  • Board meetings are usually held once a month, up to two hours long, plus one or two hours a month for other contributions (e.g., preparing or  reviewing materials for board meetings)
  • In addition, the President, Treasurer, and Secretary may need to contribute up to 10 hours a month, depending on the required workload.

YKSAR bylaws require that the financials be reviewed by two members annually. These volunteers would be responsible for:

  • Reviewing financial records (receipts, invoices, cheque stubs, bank reconciliations)
  • Reviewing financial reports (balance sheet, income statement)
  • Providing an independent opinion of the financial reports

YKSAR does not have a large volume of expenditures annually so the time commitment is expected to be approximately five hours.

Being a non-profit organization, we provide workers for Tree of Peace bingo events, with renumeration being provided to YKSAR for services rendered.

  • Must be comfortable handling cash
